checking in, all is well!

Yesterday, I went in for my CT scan, then stopped at Walmart and found a $3 pumpkin shirt for moi, and yes I wore it last night, with my face all painted like a pumpkin...I stopped at Dollar General, and got orange spray for my hair, and yes it did wash out.  phew.  I wondered:  who on earth sprays bright orange hair stuff right before a surgery?  Can you imagine if it didn't wash our properly?

While in the DG parking lot, I checked my phone, and an email said urgent update from the hospital.  Wow, results already!  I finally was able to get into my patient portal!  I read the results, and they looked good to me!  I screenshot and sent to both Emily and Mariel, they agreed things look good...one thing was that I had a minimally distended bladder.  Well, Mar said it's probably from having so many babies.  I don't know, I still have pain when I have to go, and for a bit after, but it could be the benign condition I was hoping it is, cystitis, just inflammation of the bladder.  I don't know.  But I DO know I was pretty relieved that it wasn't a big honkin' tumor.  My bloodwork also came out fine, within the parameters of normal.  My A1-C was 5.3, so no diabetes.  It really runs in my family, so I try so hard to eat well, and watch the sugar and carbs...I say this, but sometimes, I eat the chocolate.  Last night, it was Hershey's chocolate with almond bars....so good.

Is that Mega Mind?  Or is it Charlotte Claire?

A lovely witch, Camille is too sweet to be scary.

Anyway.  Trick or treating was cold and windy for the kids, and rainy.  We had fun at Margaret and Adrian's house, gave out some candy, had homemade soup (thank you Sonja!), and pizza from Domino's.  (I brought an Aldi cauliflower crust pizza to Evelyn's house, we at there before we went to Margaret's...I still had one slice of Domino's....)

This fine morning, Paul was off hunting, and the girls got up and went to a career day thing at college.  Sunny jumped into bed on Paul's side, which I didn't know, because I was sleeping.  Oh no, when I woke up, I had her get down, then I felt there and it was a little damp...and yeah, it smelled a bit like pee...dang. I had to wash all that bedding AGAIN.  She just goes a little leaky dribble, but yuck, not in our bed!

I did other laundry, cleaned things up, am trying to prepare for the surgery.  I cut up the pork loin for tomorrow's pulled pork at the housewarming party, and put vinegar, brown sugar, and salt and pepper on it, it's in the crock part of the crock pot, all ready to go into the outer part early in the morning, so it'll be fall apart ready in the afternoon.  I wrapped presents for Jon and Rosi. I cleaned out the refrigerator, so I could fit that crock of pork in there, I do not like to waste food...but when you have some chili left, and someone might eat it, a few pieces of chicken, someone might eat it...then when no one does, ouch.  I do mix leftover meat with Sunny's food, but still, I hate wasting.

Camille had made this homemade chocolate cake, and put the layers in the freezer...she made chocolate buttercream, and I helped her frost the cake..for their Phantom of the Opera party.  (It has a cherry compote filling)

Emily planned the menu and bought the food, I helped here prepare it, with our friend Janette.  We roasted three whole chickens, stuffed with fresh herbs and garlic, with olive oil and salt and pepper coating.  She found a recipe for these French potatoes:  slice them up unpeeled, put them in boiling water with vinegar for five minutes, then fry them in butter, and add sauteed onion slices.  She made a fresh tomato basil soup with carrots, four loaves of bread, and a homemade herb gravy.

So I'm sufficiently tired.  I'm sitting here in the quiet..the girls are still at their party, Paul hunted today so he's in bed.

Paul turns on cartoons for Ruth, Maeve, and Grant...
Kathryn and her four kids in Target...Rhys and Jamie liked the Christmas display.
Auntie Evelyn with Jamie, Blythe, and Rhys

Emily with her bread...:)

You all have a really nice night, and I hope you are enjoying November!

Dear Della,

All is good. You are going to sail through this surgery and recovery. You’ve done everything right so I feel it’s all going to go great! You have a positive attitude and that is just the best!! Do your exercises and take the pain meds. My hubby said that was the best advice he got. So you go girl!! Is the surgery on Tuesday?

I’m working on my Swedish weaving. It’s going great now I have the hang of it. It’s a gorgeous day here, but very windy at the moment. I’ll take the wind over snow though. That is supposed to come along soon anyway.

You take care and have a beautiful day 🥰

I want you to be all done, safe and sound in your recliner, all snuggled up with your people! If you get a chance, could you send me your email? Thanks!

The girls saved me a piece of that cake, and I'm going to have to get the recipe from Cam and post it, amazing. The cherry filling was tart, and the contrast with the chocolate was so good.

It was fun dressing up for the grandkids, but ha my kids got a kick out of it too. Thank you, Linda, I hope you are having a good day too!

Terri, thank you for the encouragement, seriously! I feel like these extra months of waiting have piled on the anxiety. I'm not really scared, but I have just had more time to think about it! Sometimes I think it'll be not so bad, but other times I think, "I do not need to do this!" But ha: I KNEED to! right?

Have you tried belly bands for the pups incontinence? You can get inserts for them so you won’t have to wash them too much.
