...because even I am getting sick of hearing about my knee surgery. It's tomorrow, the hospital lady will call today and let me know how horrifically early I will actually have to get up and shower. I have to touch base with the PT people, I'm lucky there: it's right in town, five miles away. It's the place that Sonja and Camille went to, so many sessions, so many knee surgeries! The physical therapist, Steve, went to school with Paul. He's a nice guy, and I always thought he should get paid extra for counseling all of his patients...especially the old people. He knows their names and he greets them heartily, he knows if their cows are doing well or if they have a new grand baby.
Last evening Camille helped me put together the over the toilet thingy, and the new table for next to my chair. I opened the wedge pillow I got, and got the walker out. The ice machine is a no-go. A nice guy from the pool lent it to me, Charlie-the-bus-driver. He was also a dairy farmer, and knows everyone in the area. (he knew the last five families that lived in my son Ben's big old farm house, which fascinates me...me being from the suburbs and knowing only the kids on the street, really...) Oh, the ice machine: it's a bit...moldy, from being in the box, not sure when he used it, so I am returning it to him today at the pool. I absolutely do not want to compromise the surgery site, risk infection. I have two ice packs I can alternate using and freezing, that will be fine.
Anyway. After the pool we are going to breakfast, then I think I will try to go to Costco with Sonja and Kathryn. I'd like to stock up on seltzers, maybe get a chicken for tonight's dinner.
Our housewarming party was pretty amazing. The pulled pork was good, Evelyn's Mac and cheese was MMM, Emily's butternut squash soup, MMM, Ben and Ashley brought chips and dips, and tortilla chips and salsa, I brought apples and Jon made chocolate chip cookies (he's really good!), Rosi made apple crisp which went into the oven right as we got there, making the new place smell heavenly. Mariel made chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, and we had lots of good drinks, like pink milk and iced tea, cold brew coffee, and seltzers, Capri Suns for the kids too.
Their new place is wonderful, it's near the lake, just a short walk, you can see the water from the kitchen window. It's in a nice part of the city with big houses with nice yards, and lots of parking. There are so many windows, a window seat in the library room, and French doors out to a big wrap-around porch. It's bright and warm, old but with character, with the staircase and nooks and woodwork, original hardwood flooring...just a nice comfy place.
And, now I have to hurry and get ready for the pool...I am going to miss the pool SO much, it's my happy place...you all have a good day, but ha, I'll probably check in later, because writing calms me down...:)

Finally! I'll be praying for you and waiting for some great updates on how well you're doing!
Wishing you a speedy recovery Della. Please try not not overdo things too soon after surgery. Rest and recover aplenty! I’ll be thinking of you, sending lots of love Blods xx
You will of course, be in my prayers. Take the advice to relax and go slowly.. I know you will be tempted to get there quickly. Let people help you!! I get it, not easy!! But it’s your time to heal and accept help!! Love you lots!!
Your big sister,
Cheryl. (Too bad we can’t be roommates! But everyone would hate us 😂😍)
Good luck tomorrow! You are gonna ace this surgery! To calm yourself, just take nice big breaths, in and out. You are also going to get the best sleep during your surgery. When you wake up, you'll say, "is it all over already?". They will probably keep you one night, and they gave my sister ice packs to take home from the hospital. Make sure you ice before bed for a few weeks, just don't fall asleep icing, lol. Just relax, let them wait on you for a day and when you come home, I'm sure your kids will help you. Take your meds, eat a balanced diet, fruits and veggies. You don't want to get constipated. Once it's over, you'll think to yourself, "what's all the fuss about?". :) Let us know how you are doing!
Prayers for you! So glad it's finally here. Relief is on the way.
Prayers being lifted, Della. Please keep us posted as you can!! Praying for a successful surgery and healing! xo
Thank you all for kind thoughts and prayers, and wow, two Cheryls commented! To my sister: we would be having too much fun, we always do. I'm super thankful for you, and that you're well enough to write this! To the other Cheryl, thank you for good advice! All of you, thank you for being so hopeful. I'm sitting here waiting to leave, withOUT any coffee! harrumph...
Praying it goes well for you!
Della, I'm so happy for you to be getting this done. I'm reading this a day late, so I guess maybe it's a done deal now?!!! Yippee, and let us know how it went!

Dear Della….. I hope you are doing well. Hopefully you are going home today and just remember to rest 🥰 Take your meds and do your exercises. My hubby said those are the most important. Be kind to yourself too. Be a princess for a little while and let people take care of you.
We are going to get some snow tonight and tomorrow!! BOO HOO 😭 It had to come sometime, but I’m not ready!!
You take care Della. Everyone is praying for a speedy recovery. ❤️🩹
