reveling in the midst of it all...

I am just loving summer.  LOVING it.

First thing each morning, in my bare feet, out to turn on the pool filter...I look tired, because no coffee yet.  But it's my favorite, turning on that filter, checking the chlorine, the water temperature...ahhh.  My pool.
Yesterday these two, Cam and Char, joined me for a swim.  I had already been to my water aerobics class, so I mostly relaxed in the pool...paddled hard a few times to get the heart rate up, but mostly relaxed.  It was SO hot out, muggy and stuffy, the pool felt fantastic.

Later in the day, as I was heaving myself out of my chair after a nice afternoon coffee, to wander into the kitchen to figure out what was for dinner, Paul asked me to go shopping with him.  Now, he does not shop.  But, he's going to Hungary next week, Budapest...hasn't traveled for work in a bit, so he needed some clothes.  So off we went.  He is laser focused, nothing else tempts him to meander or ponder, nope, he just goes back and picks out some clothes, tries them on, and is ready to leave.  While he was in the dressing room, I picked up a roll of wrapping paper and some tape for Sonja's wedding shower gifts, and a black tank top.

Home.  Suri was out on the deck when we got home, and dang it, her paw was bleeding quite badly...a cracked dew claw, darn it.  I called the vet, yes, bring her in, added her on to the last appointment of the evening:  8:45.  So, I made dinner...leftover salt potatoes fried up in olive oil with onions, thick sliced peppered bacon, and eggs.  Paul made some Ezekial toast, and we had a nice dinner.

We drove up to the vet, a solid 35 minute drive, and ugh.  He wrapped the claw in gauze, and yanked it out, said it was loose enough.  She didn't yelp or anything...she seemed totally fine after that.  He said as long as she doesn't excessively bother it, she shouldn't need any antibiotics or anything.  She's going back in this week for her surgery...

Little Miss Kettler, aka Old Kitty.  Years ago, when she was small, Suzanne called the vet for her first appointment, and when asked what color she was, Suze said, "Trash colored."  We died laughing, and she's always been our Trash Colored kitty.  (Suzanne was probably like 12 then...).  Anyway, Kettler is getting older, and her big beautiful fur is getting a little matted.  I googled it, and sure enough, sometimes older kitties get that way.  She loves me, and always jumps up here on the arm of my chair and purrs, she'll reach out her paw to get me to pet her more.  I keep a pet brush and some little scissors in my side table, and sneak and brush and detangle her as much as she'll tolerate.

Anyway.  Today is Cupcake Baking Day.  Also, Raspberry Thumbprint Cookie Baking Day.  So I had better move it...have a good day, and enjoy summer before it whizzes by us.
