This blog won't be political, but I will say that I was quite happy watching all those states turn red, it wasn't even close. I was really hoping it wouldn't be a close race, no matter who won, if that makes sense. But I am glad Mr. T is back. (The worst thing was the way this present administration pulled out of Afghanistan, the soldiers who died, the equipment left behind, not to mention the millions Biden let get in the hands of Iran...). But, let's not get political. Because, like I always say, it takes all sorts of people to make the world go around, quote stolen from Ma aka Caroline Ingalls, in Laura Ingalls Wilder's books.
I don't like to be called names, and I won't call anyone else names. But, I also refuse to be ashamed of my choices.
In other news, this fine morning I went to the pool, then Camille and I drove to pick some things up I had ordered from a bargain store. One thing, a Christmas gift for one of the grandkids, was only half of what was described and pictures, so I was refunded and didn't take it. Another thing I am bringing back, it was advertised as a 3'by4' rug, and it's a little doormat! The other things though, a footstool and a wood framed mirror, are keepers.
After that, Sonja came over, and we went to Target. I had something to return, then just walked around and looked at things...bought some beautiful mugs for 70% off, and a Christmas throw, to save for a few weeks until we decorate for Christmas, of course.
Then to Aldi, Sonja needed groceries. I just got a few things in there, namely another Christmas throw...it is so lovely, and only $9.99. I do not feel like taking pictures and posting them, it's been a busy day, and I'm sitting here with my feet up on my new stool, all fancy-like, instead of my usual footrest: a blue Little Tikes chair. Or a yellow one.
I gave my coffee table a sanding and a second coat of oil based polyurethane last evening after activity club, then this fine morning before the pool, another light sanding and a third and final coat. Again, don't feel like taking pictures right now, but it looks so nice. Sonja and Camille put it up on the kitchen table for me, as the bottom part is ready for primer. I am thinking of a creamy white for the bottom, and I already ordered brass drawer pulls from Amazon...enough for my little end tables too, which I'll repaint the same color, one of these days. (They are a stark white now, Alabaster I think, same as the kitchen cabinets, which are feeling too white for me, but so much work to repaint those!)
The house is untidy, two vacuum cleaners out here in the living room, as I was sanding in here...the sander is really nice with a dust bag, but lots still gets around. I decided to start the project while it's still nice enough to have the windows open, because the varnish for the top is strong.
Camille is leaving tomorrow for Mexico, Kathryn and Darius are going too, and Mariel is watching their children. I will be helping her as much as I can, so I'll be busy. It's a good kind of busy though. We're thinking to bring them to the library on Friday.
Ah well, you all have a really good day, and if your candidate didn't win, it's okay. God is still at the helm.

It's a great day when we can have the courage to stand up for what we believe in. It was a great battle and we won. Amen! Your family is beautiful. I'll have to look for that Christmas throw at Aldi. (One of the very few stores that are in our little town!) And please thank your son for me, for his service! andrea
I'm with you! We're on vacation and I was up late in the hotel watching. So thankful for the results, but as you said - God is in control, no matter who won.
I love your blog and look forward to reading it every day. As a matter of fact, I have been reading since your Camille was an infant. You seem to be one of the kindest people I could meet, and I hope you would say the same about me. Our reactions to the presidential election could not be more different, however, and I have to admit I cried a bit last night. I don't think we will ever understand one another's viewpoints regarding Mr.T, but I will say this regarding illegal immigrants. We have many undocumented workers in our area who work the fields harvesting fruits and vegetables. They do backbreaking work in all sorts of weather for very low pay. As a former educator, I can tell you that these people highly value education, have very strong family values, and have raised respectful children. This talk of millions of murderers, rapists, and drug dealers crossing the southern border is simply not what we are experiencing here. Meanwhile, areas of my lovely town of Camarillo are currently on fire with many homes lost, schools evacuated, and thousands without power. We could use a few of your prayers here.

Yes, dig through those boxes at Aldi, the other throws are kinda ugly, in my humble opinion, but the white one with the evergreens, so lovely! Also, I had two boys in the Army...Ben, who went to Afghanistan as a medic, and Sam, who also joined the infantry, but was chosen for the Old Guard in Arlington, didn't see any action but that was fine by this mama, one boy in a combat zone gave me enough gray hairs to last a lifetime.:).
Mari, it sure was fun!
Laurie, the thing is, I agree with you about the immigrants, to an extent. My opinion: all who are already here should get working papers, and be allowed to stay, especially those with families. If there are those who are fleeing their home countries because of crimes committed, send those home. If they commit crimes here, be allowed to arrest and treat as any others here. There HAVE been areas where crime rates have gone way up, NYC for example. I don't know all the answers, but I do think we need to close up the border and vet the people more carefully. My newest son-in-law is applying for a green card, and it costs so much money and takes so much time, it is actually hard to be in the US legally, I think if a person is willing to work, why make it so difficult? Those people in your area I would love, there are some in our area too, they arrive in the spring and leave in the fall, I pray for them and feel bad for them, they work so hard. I will definitely pray for your town, so sorry you're experiencing that! I had no idea! Hugs.
