And...Margaret and Adrian bought their house...and are making it so nice!
I love how the counters match the floors, and the nice new sink and faucet!
We got the rocking bassinet out for Kaia, but someone thinks he's a baby. He LOVES the baby stuff. He has no idea how silly he is.
This fine foggy morning, there was frost on the windows of the car. I had to scrape with a paint stirrer, as the snow brush is...I think in the foyer, actually. It was 30 degrees out, I did have a sweater on, but brrr. I went to the pool, ahh, so nice, it had been an entire week. Just to move in the water! The skies were clear and sunny when I left, but still quite chilly.
Sonja and I went out and about for a bit, I found some packages of 93% ground beef in Aldi for 50% off, so less than $4 a pound. I got some apples, onions, cream, low sugar greek yogurt, a bag of flour, and some bread.
The girls were working on their masks for their upcoming Phantom of the Opera party tonight, while I heated up leftover grilled chicken thighs and roasted cauliflower, and some curry sauce. Sonja was here for a bit with Miss Kaia, who was a bit fussy, but oh so cute. She is bright eyed and bushy-tailed, as we old people like to say.
There was one phone call from the dr office today, letting me know that the urine culture was clear, negative. Well. We sort of knew that, but it's official, not a UTI. I asked about the bloodwork, but she hadn't gotten anything back about that yet.
So I'm pretty sure we're going ahead with the surgery....but the few things in my Amazon cart are staying there until I'm 100%! Or else what will I do with a leg lifter thing-y and a leg pillow? A cane? I keep reading about people graduating from the walker to a cane? Will I really need one? Anyone? I have two strap-on ice packs, and the ice machine that Charlie-the-bus-driver from the pool lent me. I have not even opened the box to look at it yet. The embarrassing apparatus with handles on it, that goes over the toilet seat is still in it's box. Like everything else in my life, we wait until the last minute, then AHHH. craziness.
The thing is, I was not prepared, back in June. I don't know what I was thinking.
I am not prepared now, either. I am still rather in denial.
We are planning for Halloween night, to go to Margaret and Adrian's house...the cousins gather there and trick or treat together. I love sitting on their porch and giving out candy. It's supposed to be rainy and cold this year though.
The next night is the Phantom of the Opera party, I'll be helping Emily make the fancy dinner.
Sunday, the housewarming party for Jonathan and Rosi.
So I have to do some shopping for some things, and be prepared for those events, and there are two more appointments this week, as it stands now, at the ortho dr. and the hospital. Grace and Grant, Ruth, and Maeve are coming over Wednesday and staying for dinner. Tomorrow night is the Activity Club pumpkin carving party, which I will go and help with. I have gifts to wrap for Sunday, and I want to get something for Ashley's birthday, it's today!
So I am not bored. I keep a-going. Then, if surgery happens on Tuesday, it will all come to a screeching halt. I don't know how long it'll be until I'm all busy again, but I think I might quite enjoy the down time. It depends on how much pain I'm in, I guess. Or how difficult it is to navigate to the bathroom, or how much sleep I get. But shh, it doesn't sound too shabby. I know I'll have to keep moving, and bend the leg and use my little peddle thing, and go to PT for torture sessions, I do know that.
Oh, I bought myself a new pair of sweatpants in Target today, half off. I plan to live in shorts and sweatpants for a while. For the record, I do not consider them "bye-bye clothes". The pajama pants in Walmart thing is beyond me, but heck, never say never. "Around the house clothes", comfy clothes, will be worn. (I live in my red sweatpants, super clearanced, because who wants red sweatpants? The girls call them my Santa pants...)(but please slap me if I ever attempt to go bye bye in them!)
All right, enough rambling on. Paul is going hunting tomorrow morning, he wakes up at like four and goes while it's still dark. He loves being out in the woods. So he went to bed early. Camille is doing school work, and Char is on a New Years planning Zoom meeting. So it's quiet in here. The dryer even stopped it's hum, it worked hard today, because SOMEBODY got up on my bed this morning while I was getting ready to go to the pool...some leaky dog. Just a little piddle, but on my comforter AND my duvet, which was folded up on the end of the bed. It's not her fault, we need to close our bedroom door during the day, and make sure we don't let her get up during the night, which is harder. She is sneaky!
Anyway...good night!!!

Baby Kaia is adorable!
I love what they did to the kitchen. The cabinet color is so pretty.
I don't blame you for keeping your amazon cart ready to go, after what you've been through, I wouldn't buy it until 100% either.
I laughed when you said you weren't bored. I don't think you've ever had a moment to be bored. :)
You will need your cane after you come off the walker for a few weeks until PT tells you to stop using it..another thing to get if you don’t have one is a grabber. I’m short so I still use mine! My grandchildren like to use it to retrieve cars that roll under the couch. I wish you the best for your recovery it is not easy but I went back a year later and had the other one done my surgeon made me wait a year.
I forgot to sign MT

From my husband's knee replacement...ask your dr if they can provide a passive movement device. You strap your leg into it and it moves your leg up and down, bending your knee very gently, for an hour at a time. My husband used to get settled in bed, turn on the TV, and do his passive movement. It is very helpful to keep scar tissue from forming and I recommend it highly. Also, if they give you pain meds, take them on schedule. It's much easier to keep the pain at bay than it is to make it stop if you let it get away from you. And this may be indelicate but you will probably need a gentle laxative, because the pain medicine will bind you up. Good luck, and I'm sure you will be happy with the results!
sweet, sweet babies! Praying for a good surgery and a quick recovery, Della!! Do please keep us posted! I can't even imagine 30 degrees outside! Brrrrrrr!!
