My kind of morning...overcast and misty, dark and comfy.
The colors of autumn are pretty, and I like the cool crisp days, and of course all things pumpkin...but I have always found fall slightly scary, like the dismal forebodings of things to come. Those red and orange leaves are whispering about wind and cold and snow and ice and the death of all flowers and grass....their days are numbered, soon the trees will be bare and stark, and winter will come, whether we like it or not.
Okay, enough nonsense. I cleaned out two closets last night with the princesses while the older kids were at the youth meeting. Puzzles with missing pieces, dried out playdough, remnants of a CandyLand game, a few packages of candy that I thought I was cleverly hiding, which I suppose I hid quite well. We bagged up some things to take to the Salvation Army, and a bag of stuff for one of Cam's friends. I still have swim diapers, which I didn't throw away. What if someone comes over to swim and has a baby and needs one? I still have swim vests in there too, just in case...my kids don't wear them anymore. It is hard for me to get rid of things that I might need someday.:)
So...my walk was lovely this morning. As I set out down the road, I wonder which of my knees will hurt the most this time, but today they were fine. I came home and did some laundry and cleaned up a bit before sitting in my comfy chair, feet up, with hot coffee...I know when I get up, my knees will be extremely stiff and sore. It's just how life is now, and when I have a relatively pain-free walk, I'll take it.
My mother-in-law has been sick. I thought she was getting better, but took a turn for the worse. She has been to the doctor, and has had some tests done, which hopefully come out fine. She simply doesn't have time to be sick! Pray for her, please!
And, it is long past time for lessons around here. My three youngest had a sleepover in Jon's room last night, following a Star Wars movie. They are loving homeschooling. Yesterday they decided to do some weaving. They cut squares and rectangles from a cardboard box, put the strings on all by themselves, got out the yarn and plastic needles, and started weaving. They told me they were having art class first, before any school work. They did do their work afterwards:)
They aren't allowed, generally, any television or computer games during the day. They read books, or play, or go outside, and are never bored. I like not having to rouse them from their comfy beds in the morning.
Anyway, today is half price at the thrift store day, and I need some clothes! I seem to wear the same things over and over again, and my favorite things are from the thrift store. I also like to stock up on books. And, I have things to drop off....
We are needing a few groceries again too.
So, now we shall do some school work......

You didn't happen, by any chance, to meet an old ma clothed all in leather, did you? It was, as you say, quite the misty, moisty morning.
I hope your Mom in law is feeling better again soon. Being sick is not fun. :(
Did you find anything fun at the thrift store? I am searching out "new" old pie plates so I can give pies away in real plates and not worry about whether or not they are returned. Now if only I have some apples...
:0)
My mother-in-law seems to be getting better. She is quite healthy for 85, but when she gets sick it really slows her down, and she hates it.
Oh the thrift store!!! It was fun, we found treasures...
That was supposed to say, "Old man", of course, not "old ma"...
Congrats on the treasure hunt.
