no, not pumpkins!

It's coming, and there's nothing we can do about it. Autumn, fall, pumpkin season, Halloween, it's coming. Emily had a book when she was little, called, "Silly Sidney", (by Morgan Matthews). Sidney the squirrel attempted to re-attach the leaves to the trees, because he was enjoying summer and didn't want to store up nuts for the winter.

But it's not here yet, so this fine morning, I am enjoying summer. I turned on the pool filter, the water is still clear and clean, I put chlorine tabs at the filter entrance, and that seems to really help, along with having some in the floater. I walked around the yard barefoot, pulling weeds and picking things up. The dogs trot along, I threw the tennis ball for Sunny a few times, then brought them in and fed them. The windows are open and the cicadas are humming, the sweet smelling breeze is cooling my windowsill coffee.

Today is not a completely blank slate. Paul switched vehicles and left his truck here so Kathryn could take Jonathan kayaking. Margaret is coming over with baby Wulf. I need to send in those school plans, and I have some things to list on ebay.

My sister-in-law Kim, also my best buddy, has lost her only brother, he was 48 and he passed away. He has had heart problems for years, but he seemed well and fine. Danielle is here with us, but she has to go home, and my heart breaks for her, to lose her uncle.

Samuel is coming home tonight, can't wait to see him! He is in the Reserves, and has drill all weekend and all of next week. Sunday is Family Day at the base, so that will be fun. He told the Sergeant there would be six family members coming. Now I have to figure out which six...:)

Tomorrow, Paul and I are going on a special outing, to some wineries here in central New York state, on Keuka Lake with our friends Karen and Hobie, and with Emily and Mirielle. The scenery is fantastic, and the wines wonderful, so I'll be sure to get some pictures.

I'm trying to get a meal schedule going for the weekend, which is challenging because I never know who is going to be where or how many people will end up here....:)

Hi Della! I’m with you......I want summer to stay too! Although at the moment we have some very unpleasant smoke wafting over from the British Columbia wild fires and it’s quite vile, especially for those of us with asthma. ......so I’ve had to be inside for a couple of days 🙁Yes, you enjoy every minute as I will too. Your girls are all lovely......you all have such beautiful hair.........
