things that happen....

Just this fine morning, Charlotte Claire was mowing the lawn and started screaming. One scream. Two screams. Oh no. By scream #3, I was halfway down to the front door, and she was there on the porch...a snake. Okay, I'm gonna throttle her, ha, it was just a little garden snake, which slithered away, up the side of the house, under the siding. I know, I know, that is HORRIBLE. Snakes have no business being alive, let alone in our yard, let alone up in our siding! But to scream like that? I thought she mowed over her toes.

She did not want to continue to mow, but she did. Five minutes later, we heard that distinct mowing-over-something sound, and yes, she came in and said, "I broke the new lawn mower."

The hot water turned cold yesterday, but it was thankfully just the pilot light went out.

The muffler fell off the minivan again, but Paul put it up with another wire coat hanger.

(We need to bring it in to get the AC fixed, and now I guess the muffler too, but Mirielle has the truck while her car gets a repair done, so we are waiting until next week to get it in...)

Suzanne is in town, she came over yesterday and the day before. She leaves tomorrow, and will come again today to say goodbye. It's sad when they grow up and move away. I know they come in and look around, and see things differently. It's just sad. I miss her being here, so much.

Sonja K. went to the store with me, early this fine morning. We got more cherries, $1.88 a pound. They are only around each June, and they are so good! Then to Aldi, where the strawberries were marked down to 59 cents a pound! I bought the last package of ground beef, the $3.49 a pound tube. Chicken is now plentiful though.

The girls are dancing, they watch these K-Pop dances, I don't get it, but they love it.

On our list today: bring donations to the thrift store! We have so many bags. We had just cleaned out some rooms before this pandemic, and everything closed. We have one vehicle in the driveway that we no longer drive, Paul wants to donate it to Wounded Warriors or something, so we need to get the thrift store bags out of it...don't ask.

Poor me, I'm going to go jump into the pool...well, gingerly climb the ladder and STEP into the pool...

Your silly daughter, I get it snakes are no fun. We have Rattlesnakes and Bull snakes. They look very similar, the Bull snakes are harmless, much like your garden snake but its still unnerving when they cross your path.. Our thrift stores are closed as well, makes it hard to donate unwanted items for sure. How nice to have a pool to STEP into, some days it would be really nice!
Hope you have a great weekend

Oh my......it’s all systems go at your house!! I can only imagine what you thought at the screams coming from outside. I also would have expected toes gone 😬 Thank goodness it was just a little garter snake 🐍😬 I have to tell you something cute. My daughter has a robin nesting in one of her hanging baskets on her deck. She has named her Rosie.........and she has laid 1 egg so far. She has gone for some food or something and Reginald the father is standing guard beside the egg! She keeps me updated with pictures 😊 Apparently they lay 3-6 eggs one day apart. So that’s your nature lesson today 😊 Rosie tolerates my daughter, but not her big black lab. My daughter even had to move her BBQ so she can use it!! I hope you can get you vehicle fixed soon...........we are so dependant on our vehicles 🚗 Have a lovely evening.

Thank you for visiting my blog. We have had 3 very long black snakes to visit this spring. We know they are harmless but still they make us run! I have a corner filled with bags to donate to the thrift store when they reopen. Have a nice remainder of the weekend.

I live in south Florida, we have snakes everywhere! And of course, alligators, lizards, and larger wildlife like bears roaming around through regular neighborhoods, ha ha! You get used to it, I guess... I'm not fond of snakes, but my kids have no fear of them so they deal with any that come too close:)
