Lydia Eleanor....is she not cute? This picture just makes me smile.
So this morning we are taking a little trip to a Mennonite fabric store, where they sell bulk spices and candy and sprinkles and and and...fabric, of course. I need cream of tartar to make more batches of gingerbread playdough, and haven't found it in lots of other stores. So I NEED to go there, ha. It's a wonderful little store with all sorts of interesting things...
Camille is excited to go and is picking out her own clothes. So far she has a frilly pink skirt, a white blouse with black hearts on it, and a peach colored top to go under it. Now she is picking out leggings to go with it. Um, I don't know if there are leggings in this world that will pull that outfit together, but she has some florescent pink ones that she thinks are darling. I said fine, just change the peach colored shirt to a pink or black one.
Jon is feeling a bit better now, his temperature is 99.3. He's going to stay here and chill with Joseph and Kathryn.
Anyhow...I have tons of things to do:)

Lydia is such a sweet baby doll!! I am watching my grandson, Noah, today (7 mos) and he has such a sweet squishy face - so fun!!
Gingerbread play dough..... Do you share the recipe? My kids would love it. Thanks
Gingerbread playdough is so easy to make, shh, don't tell that to the bazaar customers!
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
and...spices. I buy the cheap cinnamon, pumpkin pie spices, ginger, ect., at the dollar store...and just add lots, until it smells really good and is a nice brown color...
then add
1 cup water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
mix it up, then heat it up on low, stirring and scraping pan until it starts wanting to stick all together.
Then knead the nice warm fragrant mass of playdough...I store the stuff I made for the kids in a ziplock bag, and it has stayed nice for a few weeks now. I experimented with using that basic recipe and adding just vanilla and sparkly glitter to make sugar cookie playdough, but it got sticky after a few days...maybe more flour would have saved it, but we threw it away. We also tried chocolate using baking cocoa, and as heavenly as that was, it also got sticky....
And Lisa, isn't it amazing to be a Grandma? I love it.
