ahhh such a lovely day in New York! and dull moments...

Evelyn, me, Emily, Mariel...at Keuka Lake, breathtakingly beautiful!  We went on an adventure!
Emily...
I had a few sips of this chocolate stout, mmm!
The vineyards...

This boy rode by when I was taking a picture of the scenery...
Sunny and Kitty...cozy at home...

At home:  Paul has something going on with his eye, he went to the ER today, and waited for hours, it was a total train wreck there at the hospital in Syracuse, so many waiting.  This has gotten so bad in the last few years, and our government has made it worse, firing so many healthcare professionals for not complying with mandates.  Even now, when for example  92% of Canadians who died from Covid in a short time period were fully vax-ed,  and it's a moot point because it seems to spread regardless of status, those doctors, nurses, radiologists, technicians...have NOT been called back.   Here in central NY state, there is an actual healthcare crisis.  It's chaos.  There are 20% less hospital beds than before Covid, because of lack of staffing.  Firing so many meant more work, more pressure on the ones left there, so guess what?  Lots more left.

Anyway, he has symptoms of a torn retina, and went to the E.R., waited for hours...somehow didn't bring his credit card, and since he wasn't seen before deciding to leave, he didn't get a voucher for the parking garage, which meant I had to drive to the city in the dark...and I should have been with him anyway!  He had decided not to go in yesterday, to wait until this morning and see an ophthalmologist, but then while I was gone on my adventure, he decided to go in...and no, he didn't need anyone to go with him, he said.  Well, I was over an hour in the opposite direction anyway, at that point.  So yes, Bad Wife Award.

The thing about Paul is that he is active and busy.  Emily had advised him not to sprint, run, work out, until he was seen for the eye...so he stacked up all the patio furniture and put water sealer on the deck, then finished putting blacktop on the sidewalk and the edges of the driveway.

When I got home from my fun and adventures, the girls here let the dogs out, and oh my goodness:  they ran down the sidewalk, then right into the house.  Black feet.  Black stairs, black doggy prints, all over the place.  I had to get them and wipe their paws, the girls helped me clean up lots of black marks.

I put pork chops in the oven, which had been marinating in vinegar, salt and pepper.  I chopped up some apples, onions, and potatoes, and spread it on the pans between the chops, and roasted it at 400.  Right as it came out of the oven, Paul texted to please bring him his card, he was leaving the ER.  I read in the news this morning that a 13 year old and a 20 year old came in with gunshot wounds right when Paul decided it was too crazy there and he didn't want to wait longer.

Dinner was at like 9:00 last night, in keeping with never a dull moment.  Paul is going to call the eye dr. as soon as they open, hopefully he can be seen urgently.  I am driving up to Camille's ortho appointment, 45 minutes from here, she's been having some terrible pain in the leg that was fixed with the surgery.

(one of these days I'll get back to water aerobics!)

One thing we discussed yesterday on our adventure, with Emily, Mariel, and Evelyn:  we all are glad that our kingdom is not of this world.  There is corruption:  layers and layers of it, unrighteousness, things don't make sense, and there is so much suffering.   Vengeance does indeed belong to the Lord though, and He will straighten things out.   People think they can fix things with more laws, but they are mere bandaids.   A law won't make a person see that they are being selfish, and so decide to put their phone down and pay attention to their child, or prompt them to be more patient, forgiving, responsible.

Ah well, there are things I can do something about, and things I can't, so I need to spend my days being faithful to do what I can, and not waste time and energy getting worked up about all the other things.
Today is a sinus headache day.  I woke up with it, thought it might just fade, but no, it's one of those pounders.  I took two ibuprofen, because I have to drive, and driving with a headache is not my idea of fun.  But these long drives with Miss Cam, I try to make the most of them, try to make our dr. outings fun. I've already made a nice coffee in the travel mug, two scoops of regular coffee and one scoop of pumpkin spice, with some heavy cream.

Pray for Sonja today, if you think of it and are so inclined, she is struggling a bit in nursing school.  Their class started with over 50 students, there are 13 left.  She has an extremely challenging instructor...who seems to run hot and cold, and keeping Sonja thinking at all times that she is one mistake away from being booted from the program.  It's tense, and she has a test today, in addition to a skills test.  She is in a very respected school of nursing, for several years now 100% of the graduates have passed the NCLEX...but it's stressful.  She doesn't like it when I joke that I've been through nursing school so many times now..., (right along with them!!!) this is my fifth time (actually, Joseph was accepted and lasted one semester, years ago, he didn't like it much)...of course I haven't actually been in nursing school, but I have awaited test results, ect...
Anyway...off I go, time to bring Cam to her appointment...

This part... "A law won't make a person see that they are being selfish, and so decide to put their phone down and pay attention to their child, or prompt them to be more patient, forgiving, responsible."
Absolutely agree! I could go on and on about the crap society we've become, and I firmly believe it's social media that is our downfall. All the people in positions to change things just bow down to the idiots on social media who cry the loudest, the 'influencers' who drive all the wrong kinds of change. We need leaders who have balls enough to do what's right, not what is woke enough to satisfy and gain favor. Grrrrrrrr.

Good luck to your daughter! I have a whole new appreciation of nurses after being in the hospital 13 days last year.

You, my friend, are the best momma ever. And your family is so wonderful. I know exactly what you mean regarding the hospital, er rooms, and specialists. In our area, the hospital is full, but not really, because they cannot operate at total capacity. It is horrible! Our entire country is in terrible condition. I pray. And Try not to worry. Have a good day, prayers for your intentions, and I had a sinus headache the other day. Ugh!!!!

Okay, that is a mind-boggling amount of activity! Praying for Sonja and for excellent test results. And for Paul's eye, and Camille's leg. Seems like so many of my friends are experiencing that it is indeed "through many tribulations" that we enter the kingdom of God. Thankfully we DO enter it!! And one day we'll look back on all this and be so grateful for what we've learned and gained within. Sending love to you and yours today, Della!

Deb, I agree with everything you said. ( I'm sorry you had that hospital experience, but it's good you got things figured out!)
Shirley, thank you!
Billie Jo, sometimes the only thing you CAN do is pray...:)
Joy, I know, we get so much out of our trials, thankfully!
