hotel # three....

And it is a nice one! The kids were so excited to arrive here this afternoon and explore. Two bedrooms, one with two double beds and a huge tv and it's own bathroom with a shower and tub...the next a kingsized bed, huge tv, with a huge jacuzzi tub, plus a full bathroom with a shower...a full kitchen with dishwasher, washer and dryer...living room with another tv and a pullout couch...a screened in patio overlooking a pond with waterfalls, and the pools...seven pools here. We swam this afternoon in the rain. The pools are heated, and it was 75 degrees out. Camille and I went under the waterfalls in one of the pools, and laughed our heads off. We tried out two hot tubs.

It is like playing house here in this nice hotel. There is a tea kettle, and a ceramic tea pot, Suze made tea for herself and Sonja. The little girls had fun helping me set the table for dinner. We went shopping before we got here and bought good healthy food. Dinner: seasoned chickenbreast strips, mixed veggies, tossed salad, fresh bread. Wine. Ice water. Dessert: microwaved popcorn.

We were supposed to go to the Magic Kingdom tomorrow, but decided to go on Friday instead. The weather down here is lousy...rainy and stormy. As long as it isn't thundering, we can still swim. Disney in the rain will be interesting.

Anyway, we are having fun. Having just five kids, aged 12, 10 (Sonja turns 11 on Friday!), 9 (Jon had a birthday yesterday), 6, and 5....is easy peasy! Seriously. The teenage drama is all back in New York, and though we keep in touch, texting and calling, it is so different. I miss them and love them like crazy, but,.....this IS relaxing! Not just relaxing, but fun. Enjoyable. Camille is so darned cute! The two little girls together are hilarious. Grandma took us out to dinner last night for Jon's birthday, and they were so good. I told them ahead of time that they weren't going to be able to be excused and get down and run around, they would have to stay at the table for the whole time, and suggested crayons and coloring books. Camille said, "No, Mama, it's okay. We have our voices and our hands, we will be fine." And they were.

Spending time with Gramma was so nice. She has a big whole in her life now that Grampa has passed on. She took such good care of him for all those years. And when he was sick, she was there visiting him every single day, bringing him brownies and making sure he was okay. I know she will be okay, she has lots of friends. But she is a giver, a server, and for all those years, she took care of Royce. By the way, she puts me to shame the way she still moves and cleans up at her age:) She was so good to us.

I have tons of pictures! Maybe tomorrow I will take the time to put some up....

While not ideal, Magic Kingdom in the rain is not bad (as long as it is not lightning). Take ponchos for everyone, and shoes that are OK to get wet. Our our trip to MK in 2010, it started raining not long after we arrived. We watched the masses head for the exit, as we got on the train to ride around during the heaviest rain. When it let up, the crowds were gone and we got to ride lots of stuff without waiting in a long line! My son's first roller-coaster ride was on Goofy's Barnstormer in the rain, and we rode it six times in a row non-stop. My brother even put his umbrella up on one of the rides!

Go park at Downtown Disney, catch a bus to the ticket and transportation center, and ride the monorail around one day. We think it's fun to just go look at all the different resorts. Animal Kingdom Lodge is our favorite (but only accessible via bus, not on the monorail line). You can see all of the animals out on the savannas, and they have several fun free activities for the kids to do too. You can get the schedule from the front desk there. We collected beads from all of the things we did there, and they are educational too. The nightly electrical parade is lots of fun to watch to, our favorite spot to watch is from the beach at Fort Wilderness.
