Iceland? why yes!

Our layover is in Iceland. It's a short one, but next time, we have big ideas! The smart people in Iceland have figured out a way to get tourists into their country...reasonable airfare through Icelandair, and no extra charges for extended layovers. So if one was flying to or from Europe, and had a few extra days, and a little bit of extra money, one could visit the geothermal springs, or have a good glimpse of the Northern Lights. Hmmm...

I do like to travel. I've been to eight countries, not including a layover in the Netherlands. 26 states, too. Most of this traveling has been in the last ten years, for years and years I was a little bit busy.

Admittedly, traveling to Norway in the winter is not ideal, unless maybe you were from the south or the tropics, and had a thing for snow. We have enough snow ourselves, here near Lake Ontario. But we go for a different reason, to see our friends...

Last evening we had a little family meeting to discuss the logistics and cost of our summertime trip to Norway. ouch-y. It's going to be pricey, but we're going to try be creative to fund it. We have some saved, but need to do some ebay sales, etc., to get to the goal. Our church is based in Norway, Brunstad conference center is right on a fjord there, with a huge sports complex, a meeting hall that seats like 5,000, and lots of fun things for the youth and kids to do. We can go there and see all the friends we have made through the years. This weekend, for example, I am going to see some kids, now grown up, who came and stayed here with us several years ago, and some of the friends Abigail made from Dubai, and some ladies from the west coast of the U.S., and from B.C. in Canada.

So the focus there is of course to be encouraged in our battle here on earth, our fight against our own sin. God has blessed this place, it's a good place, so much fellowship and pure goodness. It's worth the sacrifices to get to go there!

So in one hour, I am leaving for my weekend in Norway...five days, actually. It's a short time for such a long distance, but this weekend is very special, it's for the sisters! The mamas, the single girls, the youth girls, the older ladies, and its phenomenal. The mamas get special time away from small children, to go to meetings and have gatherings and meet up with long lost friends.

So I am completely excited about it, and of course, I will bring home chocolate...:)
