love and hate New York State...

Lake Ontario...

No, we didn't go on a tropical vacay, this place is a 40 minute drive...isn't it just breathtaking?

The puppers like to fetch that stick, the water is still warm.
We went to one small winery, just had a glass, mmm.

It's a rainy day today, and I have no idea what to make for dinner, not the foggiest notion.  Well, there IS a package of frozen solid chicken I might try to pry apart and put into the crock pot, with some chicken stock maybe, and add some potatoes and carrots later...

I do love where I live, love the lakes and mountains and country side, but the politics here, NO.  The laws, rules, and regulations, blah.  The wineries, yes!  The apple picking, of course!

But today, I won't get into a rant about mandates, censorship, oppression, supply chain issues, shortages, gas prices, the whole entire B administration, the lies of the press...(did you know those border agents on horses were NOT whipping anyone?  Did you see the retracted story, the apology?  Me neither.  Did you see that Prez. B. spoke out before he even heard the truth?).   What about the story several weeks ago that gunshot victims have been turned away from an ER down south, because it was crowded with people who had overdosed on ivermectin?  Not a true story, totally fabricated, but the press ran away with it!  It was repeated and retold, and not even remotely true.  The true crime here in our country is this:  if you are diagnosed with Covid, there is nothing you can do about it, not a thing, until you can't breathe, then you can come in for treatment.  I just talked to a friend yesterday from out west...they were in Salem, Oregon, her husband was in the hospital for severe asthma symptoms, then she got a call in the middle of the night that he had tested positive for Covid, and to please come pick him up.  She had to go get him, bring him home, because there was nothing they could do for him.  Okay.   All the possible treatments, things that people should be encouraged to do at home before they get critically ill are being dissed, buried, not encouraged, taken away.  The vaccine is the only answer.   (It's a good thing it works so magically, prevents spread, and no one is having strokes or heart attacks from it!) Disclaimer:  I am in no way throwing shade on the medical professionals who have worked so tirelessly to treat and save lives during this, not at all.    Oh wait, I said I wasn't going to rant.  oops.  Have a good Sunday!

...AND you need to get out of my head (lolol) EXACTLY WHAT I AM THINKING! Yes, its beautiful where you live, I am going to try to get hubby to make the drive next weekend (I have it off) up to that area, I shall let you know, smiles.

Couldn't agree with you more, my friend. It never stops. One horrible, incompetent thing replaces the previous, and the "press" either twists it around or completely ignores it. Have you seen the other countries take on us? We are a laughing stock right now. I honestly cannot believe this is happening. Prayers are all I can offer. Hugs!

I just visited Lake Michigan and it is absolutely beautiful and I hope to see Lake Ontario soon. I recently had CoVid and I will say that I believe the vaccine kept my symptoms from being severe at all, but I hate the way it is being forced, but so are many other vaccines. I also do not think it is a magic cure, because I believe we all need to have natural immunity to it in some form.

Beautiful photos of the lake! Hope the frozen chicken cooked in the crock! Enough said about the press and the current administration. God help us! xo

Linda, :)
Billie Jo, it is almost unbelievable.
Carol, you may be right about the vaccine helping things not be worse, I think it helped my sister, too.
Terri, I thawed the chicken in cold water, cubed it all up (cutting up five pounds of chicken, ugh), dredged it in flour, browned it in olive oil, added chicken stock, then cut up potatoes, and carrot coins...a nice big pot of chicken soup!

Hi Della ……..those photos are lovely! It does look tropical 🌴 The doggies were having fun too. I have a chicken in the oven roasting along with potatoes and yams. I have turnip and carrot to mash together with butter and salt and pepper and will make gravy 😋😋 There’s just the 2 of us so we will have leftovers for tomorrow or Tuesday!!

My daughter in laws dad got Covid and was in the hospital for 3-4 weeks. He was fully vaccinated thank goodness, but had heart surgery in the last year. They told the family if he hadn’t been vaccinated they possibly would have lost him. It was touch and go for several days as it was. He’s 83. We are both vaccinated and waiting for them to announce our age group and we will be there like a shot to get our booster. We are actually going this Saturday to get our seasonal flu shot. We don’t go out and about too much, we wear our masks…..they have been mandated in our province and I’m ok with that as we were the worst in Canada. I have asthma so certainly can’t afford to get this thing. I am so thankful to our frontline workers…….my daughter works in the ER at our biggest hospital…….and she and her co-workers are beyond exhausted. Other provinces are sending some experienced healthcare professionals to help us, it’s that bad. Also some armed forces nurses. This isn’t fun…………our health care in this province is in crisis. I have it straight from the horses mouth……so to speak. We had a nurse take her own life as she couldn’t take it anymore 😢😢😢😢 My daughter has seen some horrible things………….and it breaks my heart. Anyway that’s my little rant.

I hope the soup was delicious 😋

Marilyn, I am sincerely thankful that there is a vaccine for those who decide for it, and I agree that it improves outcomes in many older adults illnesses, my own sister too. I am very sorry about the nurse taking her life, I also have all the info from horses' mouths, it's rough in the hospitals right now. Your dinner sounds amazing, I can almost smell that chicken roasting! And yes, the pups had so much fun, they LOVE chasing that stick in the water!
Mary, you sound like one of my kids:). Thank you!

It is beautiful there! I don’t understand why other states aren’t setting up the monoclonal antibodies treatments to help prevent hospitalizations like our Governor DeSantis is doing. We had a pretty bad surge over summer and as soon as he set up the antibodies treatments all over the state, our hospitalizations went down drastically. There are both unvaccinated AND fully vaccinated people who got sick with Covid, got the antibodies treatments right away and were fine. The antibodies work best if you get them early on in your illness. They’re very expensive (free to us, paid by the government), but they help save lives.

That has been my question all along. Why aren't we focusing on the TREATMENT not just the possible preventative? There are so many things that have been shown numerous times to work and most drs still won't prescribe anything. Its strange.

Cassandra, the reason there is no recommended treatment: before the vaccine was given emergency approval, it had to be thought of as the ONLY option, and the patent had just run out on Ivermectin (which was not originally a "horse dewormer", the developer received the Nobel prize for medicine, and it's saved countless lives in India, where it is commonly used for river blindness, and guess what? Those who use it prophylactically haven't gotten Covid!), so Merck couldn't profit from Ivermectin. They received a multibillion dollar grant from the US govt. to develop meds for Covid shortly afterward...Monoclonal antibodies seem to be working, but Biden seems to want to redistribute them, and try to get a dr outside of Florida to prescribe them. The mainstream media is portraying anyone who wants any sort of treatment as crazies, as if there is just the vaccine, then the vent.

Oh I know, it’s strange that other states can’t get monoclonal antibodies. We don’t need a prescription here anymore, just a positive Covid test and you make an appointment online at a location near you, that’s it. And yes, Biden has interfered with our treatments here but our governor is getting more directly from a manufacturer. I mean, if government truly wants to decrease hospitalizations & deaths, you would think they would be offering these treatments more often.
