Sometimes I enjoy fixing a nice dinner for the family, other times I just don't feel like it. I have that , "what, dinner again? didn't we just have that last night?".....that was today. But, like most things I do, I do because I have to. And it's okay, I survive. It was very easy, too....some leftovers, fresh veggies, 4 more boxes of stuffing....and Paul bought Klondike bars for dessert....Reeses, triple chocolate, Oreo, neopolitan.....and : I did not have one! But don't let me fool you, I had some ice-cream today during nap time.....shh.
Okay, since I wrote a few things about Paul, I thought I would elaborate about him a little bit. When we met, I basically could not believe my good fortune. I wrote before about how we met, but I'll write about it again, because I like re-living the one of the best nights ever. I was in a night-club, bar, with my cousins, I was 16 1/2 years old, and I lied my tail off to get in that bar....I don't condone lying....but that is what I did. While standing around listening to the 1982 music, my cousin and her friends and I were playing the , "wouldn't I like to take HIM home to mommy"....game. All you have to do to play is pick someone out, and then somehow end up talking to him, and if you're lucky, dance with him, and have him take your phone number. And I was lucky. He went up to the bar, and my cousin noticed his shirt tag was sticking out, and dared me to go tuck it back in. Well, I was game for that. So I did. He was beautiful, if you don't mind my saying so. Longish curly blonde hair, green eyes......we liked the same books, and had a nice time talking. He asked me to dance, Benny Mardonis, "If I could fly, I'd pick you up, and take you into the night....." We looked into each other's eyes, and hmmm. We liked what we saw, I guess. Anyway, anyway, .....he was in college, and I was in high school. He assumed, wrongly of course, that I was 18 since I was in that club, and I didn't volunteer any opposing info.....but I didn't lie to him either. By the time he found out, he already really liked me.... the first time he came to visit me was a story in itself, but I won't write about that now....
My husband likes music. Loves music. Loves his guitar. Never gets to play it enough. It is hard to balance personal passions when you have alot of kids, but he has dealt with it quite admirably, and I know it hasn't been easy. Our kids are musical too, and they don't get it from me. My husband is the kind of guy who cuts his hair because it's more respectful, but if he had it his way, it would be a bit longer....in fact, it usually is a bit longer than conventional for a guy who works in an office. Yes, that's where he works. He is a programmer anylist, and he has a decent job. He also does tons of stuff, like bookkeeping, for our church. He used to be the youth leader as well, but that job got passed on to a younger guy....which was kind of nice. He was gone on Thursday nights for years and years, and now he isn't. He really likes to laugh. He eats healthy, basically, and he works out every day. He has been there with me for all the babies births, and to see him cry tears of joy is just.....no words for it. He doesn't care what he wears, but dresses neat for work. In fact, when he comes in from work all dressed nice, I'm like, hmmm, he looks pretty good. I still like him alot, in addition to loving him. He's the kind of guy who doesn't even like to watch movies that have adultery as the theme, he thinks it is awful. He just would never.....and not because I am so great, because he is just a faithful trustworthy person. And of course he isn't perfect. And I am fully aware that neither am I, so.......we match. We respect each other. Sometimes when it is crazy around here, we just look at each other and laugh. What have we done? What were we thinking? Now, he isn't nearly as talkative as me, doesn't have patience for the details, so I need my friends, too. But he lets me do what I want. Baby showers, shopping with the girls, he has no problem with watching the kids. Of course we do things different around the house, too. But we agree on the big things....so, we're happy.
He is at a town board meeting tonight....but we both got a kick out of Charlotte Claire with her Klondike Bar tonight. She wrapped it up and wanted to save it. We kept telling her it would melt. No, she said, no melt!!! She was just thrilled to have it, and wanted to keep it......we didn't want the mess, so we put it in the freezer. She finally agreed she would eat it if we got it back out.....and she did....never a dull moment.

It's lovely to hear more about your hubby. I love the way you wrote that you like him besides love him! - I understand what you mean!
Della, that was so nice to read, I think in todays day and age marriage is taken too lightly and sadly for most people it just doesnt last, people dont work at it and they end up taking the easy option out...
I really love hearing about when it does though, it makes me want to do little extra things to make sure mine heads down that same path... Thanks for sharing ;-)
What a great story you and Paul have!
And, the ice cream... I used to sneak some at nap time too. Shhh! I don't do that so much anymore.
Oh, I love it. The dinner time thing, I find myself thinking so often (let's say like every other night or so?), "Ummm, didn't we just do that last night?" I love reading this blog. I bumped into it many months ago and then, like many other blogs, I forgot where I found you! Although I'm about 10 behind you (we have 8 under one roof, in the spring we will have9), I can relate to so many of your posts! I hope you don't mind, now that I've found you again (my sister was telling me about you so that's how I re-found your site), that I've added you to my blog roll. Don't want to lose your blog again! It's comforting to read someone's stories with a life you can totally relate to!
Sounds like you two have a great marriage....I love my husband like that too!
Such a great story! LOVED hearing the details of your past! What a sweet love story!
