is it Friday?

You know you're on vacation when you have to check what day it is.  (Shh, I'm always on vacation ha).  Yesterday we went for a drive, to a neighborhood in Berkeley, up and up the hillsides, twisty roads, breathtaking views of the bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Of course it was just foggy enough that you couldn't see much in the pics...
This pic was taken from a house that is for sale, see the chair on the roof?  Apparently the old guy that lived there would climb up there and have his coffee every morning with a view of the bay...

We stopped at Sprouts on the way home, to get dinner fixings.  We had homemade pasta (I mean homemade from dough, and rolled out), homemade creamy vodka sauce with prosciutto bacon.  We had oven warmed bread, and a salad.  I don't usually eat pasta, and wow, it was good, but oh dear, I needed a nap...then came dessert...creme brûlée!

Oh dear, oh my, it was good.

We did spend a few hours by the pool...Riley brought this out to me...

It was as delicious as it looks...I can tolerate a very small amount of alcohol, and that's what it had in it.

The water is so much warmer than the pool at home...

The dogs are full of fun and energy, and Paul keeps them busy.

I do miss home, I always do when I'm away.  Less this time because I'm with Paul, but still I miss the kids, and the doggies.   Emily is taking Sonja, Jonathan, Charlotte Claire, and Camille on a road trip to see Samuel and Grace, Grant, and newborn Ruth Eleanor...
I stole this pic from Grace, as I haven't met little Ruth yet, and I am indeed jealous they are trooping down there without me, but that's life, especially with a lot of kids.  You can't always be with everyone, and it's nice to be out here in California for a bit.

Ah well, it's morning, coffee is calling...(I haven't gotten out of bed yet, vacation mode!)

Living it up in Cali! Love it! Is Riley a chef? The food and drinks look delish. I was wondering if it’s smoky there. I lived in northern CA years ago, where the fires have been raging, so sad to see.

What a lovely trip you are having! Such wonderful pictures (especially of baby Ruth!!). Clapping here for the man who put the chair on his roof to enjoy the view with his coffee. How resourceful!
