pictures from 10/10/10

The setting: our house....

The time: afternoon

The cast of characters: Paul and I, and most of the kids, 14 to be exact....

The plot: to make apple pies with pecan crumb topping, and make a nice dinner (grilled lemon pepper pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes, salad with lots of fresh veggies, and brown sugar baby carrots.

The other plot: to carve the pumpkins Emily brought........

Here is Joseph's pumpkin one of our pies...what they lacked in beauty they made up for in taste....no recipe for the crust, I just improvised....and somehow came up with the exact amount of dough....I used a small amount of shortening, lots of butter, and added baking powder and sugar to the flour mixture.....tender and flaky and so yummy.

Camille has some heels...and a nice baby doll...yes, she trimmed her bangs a bit more, when I was gone the other day...I recieved a text that said, "babies cut hair again..." rrr.

Paul taking a little breather...notice the cordless drill sitting there? He was repairing his guitar....

Emily....she has had a few days off from work, it is so nice to have her around.

Miss Margaret Cheryl....the kitchen was a busy place today....the pumpkin seeds are roasting right now.

Evelyn Joy with the pumpkin seeds.

Miss Rosie had a bath! She still needs brushing.

I cooked the chops on the grill...what a beautiful evening here in central New York!!!

Joe carving his pumpkin....

Camille likes to close her eyes when I take her picture.

Charlotte Claire with the gushy stuff from the pumpkin. They made a huge mess on the deck. It will be dryer tomorrow and easier to clean up, reasoned the tired mama.

And here is Mr. Jonathan....

We sat at the table for a few hours this evening....there are still eight people in the living room, as the evening winds down....
