the days just fly.....

Today, Molly and I cleaned Charlotte Claire's room....it is the room that ends up with all the toys in it...all the doll strollers and prams, bins of duplos, legos, waffletown, toy kitchen stuff, dollys, cash-registers, plastic xylophones....and the dresser with the girls' playclothes in it is in there....as is the change table with Jon's clothes, and a set of shelves with bins and drawers for Charlotte Claire's clothes....plus closet space to hang stuff up.....but the closet is pretty full of Little People stuff, the baby swing, other baby stuff, baby clothes, etc.....

What happens is this: we clean up the living room every day, and when the kids put away the toys, they get thrown into this room....so, it becomes a mess.....it took us a few hours to sort everything out....and it looks so clean and empty, the kids were all playing in there....we are going to KEEP it clean this time. Charlotte Claire liked it so much, she would not go to sleep for her nap.....she climbed out of her crib and started playing.....

But, as most of you know, when you spend the lion's share of a day doing a project like this, other things don't get done....add to that the fun things that Charlotte Claire and Jonny found while we were sorting things, that they dragged out to the living room, and wow! When we finished the room, I came out here, and .......we had already picked up and vacuumed the living room today....toys all over.....so, I did what any irresponsible mom would do: I assigned someone to watch Camille, and I sneaked out to the hot tub. I fully enjoyed maybe 10 minutes before they started finding me.....first Suzanne with Charlotte Claire who had skipped her nap, then Sonja, Jon, and Kathryn....not too bad. I had a nice time listening to their school days, between trying to sort out the broken cell phone problem: Ben had an old phone, gave it to Evelyn... Evelyn lost it a while ago....Molly found it today, and gave it to Jon, who has been playing with it and talking on it all day.....Evelyn gets home from school, and wants her phone.....what's a hot tub soaking mom to do? Evelyn finally decided they would share it, and Jon gets it today....good luck trying to get it tomorrow, Evelyn......I may have to step in....

After my 40+minutes in the hot tub, I realized I have to go to the store.....this weekend is a church conference.....and we needed stuff for lunch.....so I went to the store 4 miles from here....not the best prices usually, but quick....for most people....took me an hour. Of course, nice mom that I am, I took Jon, Sonja, and Charlotte Claire.....Jon was not very well behaved at all. He was so excited, he hopped all around. He didn't ask for anything.....but, he was just bouncing!

When I got home I was glad to see they had made the pizzas....because they have activity club on Friday nights.....the older ones help with the younger ones....it is great fun for them....Paul went to pick them up, and is pulling into the driveway right now...so my 1/2 hour of quiet is just about over.....

The last time hubby had the kids clean up the toys, the threw most of them into storage bins amd put them in the attic. It's hard to build a mr potato head with a body, 5 unmatching arms and a nose. :) Time for mommy to sort the attic stuff. I'm huge already and need to find the eternity clothes, as dad calls them.

Eternity clothes, that is funny....funny because when you are expecting #10, you have obviously been pregnant for, well a very very long time.....

I am a sorter. I love to sift through the toys and put them in their separate bins/shelves....I can't understand how my husband can just throw them all together and put them away.....

The only thing I care about, organizationally, is the toys. If I know where they are, I can get out just one container and the little 2 will play happily for an hour. If they have to look for stuff, they dump all the containers on the floor and leave them there.
