living amongst the lakes...

The Finger Lakes region is breathtaking...we were over near Keuka Lake, near where blogger friend Linda used to live.  It's such a strange mix of gorgeous houses, Amish farms, and run down trailers, all set in the rolling hills with beautiful views.   We set out to go to a few wineries...
This was a small place that crafts their own beer, Evelyn and I..see that small cup?  I had less than half full of...cookies and cream dark stout...very good.  The girls only have small amounts too, with lots of water in between...because the idea is to taste the different offerings.

We had a leisurely day, driving the hilly roads, trying a few new places.  I love spending time with my girls.

Today we're having a birthday party for granddaughter Ophelia.  There was a mix up in who was making the cake, so I made a little cake last night, and 28 mini cupcakes.  I haven't frosted them yet...I did put the pork in the crock pot with lemon juice, garlic salt, lots of coarse ground pepper, and some brown sugar, for pulled pork.  I have to make macaroni and cheese too, and clean up the house.  I wrapped my presents last night, and made some little gift bags.

New Year's Resolutions Check in:

I had some chocolate yesterday...Mariel brought these chocolate covered pomegranate things, oh dear...but I only had a few...one espresso M&M...way too yummy.  Then last evening, I had a few Hershey Kisses, and a few dark chocolate non-pareils...but not too many.  Other than yesterday, I've stayed away from chocolate pretty well.  The problem is, we have a few Norwegian chocolate bars from Jonny....I will crack them open when there are lots of people to share with!

Jury duty:  I have to call this evening to get instructions about reporting tomorrow.  I remembered I have an appointment with a foot doctor on Wednesday for Camille, for some serious toe issues she's had, this specialist took  three months to get in to see.   I imagine the conversation:

Scary Jury Person:  Can't someone else bring your daughter to the doctor?

Me, losing my voice and forgetting words:  Um, I guess, but she's my BABY, and what if there are important decisions to be made, and what if they have to do a scary procedure right in the office, and she wants her mommy?

Oh Ed, you make such a big deal out of everything.

Ever notice that when you have a whole poop-pile of stuff to do, and you're procrastinating, you can't really ENJOY it, because you KNOW you have to get moving?  Then, when you get busy and are cranking away getting things done, all you want to do is go sit in your comfy chair for another cup of coffee?

Ah well....there are a lot of other thoughts swirling around in my head today, but I'll save them for another day...have a very good day!

I hope you can get out of this jury duty. I believe you need to go to that appointment and I say that you need your trip to Florida.

I've been craving M&Ms soooooo bad the past few days! Just regular, plain ol' M&Ms. Even though the Diabetes Educator said it's okay to still have very small amounts of regular candy, I still tend to shy away from it. I might have to cave and get a small bag though. I told hubby he'd have to keep it in his work lunch box so it's not here during the day. lol

Here's hoping you don't need to be there for jury duty, and that the appointment goes well. And that vacation isn't disrupted!

Good morning Della!

What a lovely day you had with your girls 🥰 Beautiful area by the looks of it. That stout sounds delicious! Have you ever tasted Guinness? It is sooooo good. I make a crockpot stew with a can in it. If you would like the recipe I can send it to you. It is DELICIOUS!! I have eaten chocolate too😬 There’s too many of them in my house.

Have a lovely day today with family and happy birthday to little Ophelia 💕 and good luck tomorrow.

What a beautiful place for a getaway! Looks like you and the girls had fun.
I hope the scary jury person lets you off for that appointment!

All you say is you have a minor that has a doctor's appointment with a specialist that took three months to get, on Wednesday. No lie there at all.

I would also say I have a flight booked (nonrefundable?) to see my elderly mother in law.

At least in California, you can always say, I would like to move this Jury Duty to a better time, how about June 1st, 2023? As long as you have a date ready, they are very good about just moving you.

Carol, I hope they understand how important these things are!
Deb, I like regular M&M's too. And the caramel ones, oh dear. Peanut: of course. Peanut butter: even better. Almond: love. Pretzel: they're okay. Mint: yup.
Mari, it is a beautiful area...we like discovering all the different little places. I hope the scary jury person is actually nice.
Kristi,I am going to try that!

M&Ms...I like the peanut, caramal, and peanut butter ones too. I'm not fond of pretzels in general so I've never tried the pretzel M&Ms. I haven't tried the almond ones either. I don't know if I've had the mint ones. But the crispy ones, oh my word, LOVE those! Could be what gave me diabetes, eating whole bagfuls at a time! LOL
