I just wanted to take a minute and explain what Aaron is going through. He had a bar inserted into his chest, a very big stainless steel thing. It had a curve in the middle, which was placed under the depressed sternum,, then flipped outwardly, causing the sternum to be pressed into normalcy. It was very painful, but sucessful in that he looked much more normal, and he could breathe better. The bar is held in place by a steel band on each side, attached to a rib. Gross, eh? Anyway, one of those bands broke....so he has to go in and have it removed, and probably replaced. It certainly won't be the heavy duty surgery that he went through last August, just a day surgery. Hopefully this will be the only complication. These bars stay inside for roughly three years, and then are removed. So hopefully United Healthcare will stop giving us such a hard time, and cover this! We don't want to have to remove it ourselves!!!

Maybe someone should use one of those lovely UHC people to DEMONSTRATE THE PROCEDURE on them, so they will understand. HA!
Poor Aaron. I bet that doesn't feel very good! I will keep him in my prayers!

I'd like to go to the airport with him sometime. Now would that set the metal detectors off? Or is it like the front of our fridges, unattracted to magnets? The picture of it poking out is too hard to look at.. can I see it in person? Just kidding..
Poor Aaron. I hope the insurance company covers the surgery, that's ridiculous that they're giving you a hard time. I guess they consider a bar sticking out of his chest "cosmetic" surgery?!! Seriously though, insurance companies stink. Hope he gets the surgery ASAP.
I'll be praying for Aaron!
