So. Here's the conundrum. How much do I say on the blog? You, my dear readers, need to know the story, but how much is MY part of the story, and how much is private info? I've been mulling and churning, wondering if I should keep things to myself, but how can I write a post and pretend all is normal here? I can't. So here we go....
Someone in the house, here at home, is positive. Yes, Covid positive. This person is only mildly sick, rather young and healthy. The other five of us have gone in and tested, and are all negative, so far. But, since we have a positive here at home, we are still quarantined. After a whole entire year of trying to always be stocked up and ready, just in case, well...just in case has finally happened. We are officially stuck in the house. Locked down, being checked on by the health department.
I found this out on Monday night, as we arrived home from Florida. We stopped at the store and stocked up on groceries, so we are all set, thankfully. The girls all have to do school remotely for a while, they don't mind. Hopefully the rest of us STAY negative, right? I do think I already had it back a year ago, when I arrived back from California, but who knows.
I won't lie, it's a bit daunting, to actually have it here. I feel fine, but there IS such a thing as Psychological Symptomatic Anxiety Syndrome, because I made it up, therefore it is real. This syndrome is when you discuss Covid, someone you know has any symptoms, or when you read or watch a news story featuring the various sufferings the virus causes. You immediately start feeling a scratchy throat or a bit headache-y. You might feel flushed, or weak and tired. I am not kidding about this part, when someone close to me was experiencing a bad cough back in the autumn, I immediately started feeling sick. It's awful. I've been coming down with Covid for a whole year now! Now, as you know, I don't let myself give in to anxiety, so I work with it, but it's definitely something I do wrestle with, especially when I'm trying to sleep at night.
There is the knowledge that the very hairs of our heads are numbered, and that not a sparrow falls to the ground without our Heavenly Father knowing, and that all things work together for the good for those who love God....but for it to be worth anything in our lives, we have to be tested. It is NOT WRONG TO BE TEMPTED. Gold is refined by fire, and our faith must be tested, and we needn't be afraid of the trials. When we're faithful and say NO to anxiety, we don't need to be tossed around and tortured by it. It is a good fight of faith.
Our Florida trip ended nicely, we had to check out of the airbn in the morning, and our flight was in the evening, so we found some botanical gardens. The greenery, the flowers, the warmth! The giant snapping turtles in the boggy water, and the butterflies flitting around! What absolute loveliness!
Since we were on vacation, we got some Chik-fil-A, and headed to another park...we whiled away the hours.
Home, ahh home. It's a good thing I like it here!
Do you like the new towel? I had bought it a bit ago, and was saving it, but it seemed like a good time to crack it out and hang it up...

Oh, it is SO good to start each day with Jesus and some coffee! I am sorry you have a positive in the house and pray that no one else gets it. It is one crazy virus, that's for sure. Prayers lifted and stay healthy!!
My 13 year old tested positive on last Saturday. The rest of the family has tested negative. She lost her sense of smell and taste for about a week now, but is otherwise doing well.
My 14 year old got the virus a few weeks ago. His only symptom- he couldn't taste....then a few days later, he was running and felt short of breath. That was really it. He was a little tired, but really just fine. I can't say we were the best at quarantining...I figured that by the time he had actual symptoms, we'd probably all been exposed. So we didn't got out of our way to get together with people, but we didn't do anything special. His school was virtual, too (they decided to go virtual the week he got sick because I guess they had a lot of cases), so it worked in his favor. No one else in our house of 6 got it, praise God. God love you and prayers!
Hello, this is the woman who called you out for "sneaking into Florida" Hmmmmm....I am immunized because I got vaccinated. I wear goggles and two masks everywhere I go. I wash my hands constantly. I had Covid 19 in July, probably got it via my eyes even though I wore a mask. I do what I do to protect my fellow man and the very sick fragile infants I provide service to. I can't get sick unless someone injected this shit into me. I also leave my home to provide ESSENTIAL service, maybe to shop a little. I have not seen my precious son for 14 months. I am honestly very tired of people like you who are entitled and bored. People who think all of this is silly and nonsense. Yes I am a liberal, believe in focusing on WE not ME. NOW you have a family member who is positive. How were they exposed? Via your cavalier approach to all of this? Please reflect on your focus in life, stay home, get immunized and most importantly please be a good example to your children and grandchildren.
I really don't care if you post this or not. You know what you have done, you are representative of soooo many naysayers and you all need a bit of reality. Hopefully this is your reality

Kara, well that's good, in the big scheme of things, but losing taste and smell would not be pleasant. Mine here has had that happen just this evening, couldn't even smell coffee. I would not like that. Hope your daughter gets that back soon!
PKL, I hope you guys are out of the woods, thank you for prayers. We've been bombarded with news stories and horrors, and sadnesses from this, and it is real, for most it's mild, but for some...it's pretty harsh, and you just never know. God DOES know though, right? Thank you all for kind comments!
Glad you had a nice trip to Florida. I'm sorry you have a positive in your family. It went through our entire family back in October-fortunately, we all had relatively mild cases. Felt like we had the flu or a really bad cold. I still have a somewhat impaired sense of smell and taste. Hope the rest of you can stay well.
Hi Della....... m sorry to hear about the Covid in your home and hope it’s just a mild case and no one else gets sick. We get our second shot on April 12th and I’ll be glad to get that done.
Lovely photos of the gardens you went to. That’s a pretty dress you had on. My grandmother always called dresses ‘frocks’ so pretty frock!! 🤣🤣 You all have that healthy glow......sun kissed. I’ve been sitting on our front porch for a while a couple of mornings when the sun has been nice and warm hoping to get rid of the lily white pasty look. It’s going to be +14C today and on our porch it is very sheltered and hot!

Our deck is like that, sheltered from the wind, and on those iffy, not quite warm days, the sun will warm us anyway! It's coming our way, after today's rain/snow mix, sunshine is coming again. I'm glad you are able to get the vaccine.
Glad you enjoyed your trip! Hopefully whoever has Covid in your house gets better ASAP. I can’t believe the health department actually checks on you?!! Do they come to your home? It just sounds so crazy to us in Florida to have such an invasion of privacy. I have a family member who just moved down here from NJ 2 months ago, he’s very careful about wearing a mask, etc but still caught Covid a few weeks ago. He is in his early 70’s, had no treatment for the covid, just went to urgent care & was tested, they told him to take Mucinex for the cough and that was it...he was pretty sick with cough, occasional chest pain & after 10 days developed a 104 fever, took Motrin, was better 2 days after that. He’s perfectly fine now! He said it was rough though, and he felt exhausted for 2 weeks. Oh, he also took Vitamin D3/K2 drops for a few days but I don’t know if that was helpful or not.
All this to say: many, many people have had Covid and beat it, without hospitals or government oversight being involved. You all will most likely be fine. Eating healthy, getting sunshine (or taking D3 if there’s no sun) & fresh air are great preventatives.
My brother-in-law had it back in the summer. He thinks he got it from work even though everyone was careful and wore masks. No one else in his household caught it. It's a small house and still they managed not to catch it. Hopefully, you will all be fine too.

Michelle, you are absolutely one of my favorites, with your common sense, non-judgmental approach. Somehow a virus has turned half the world into finger-pointing do-gooders, if THEY get the virus, it's an accident, if WE get it, it is our fault. No matter how much some people hate on me, I am still thankful for the freedoms we still have. Our family has tried to walk that line, the one between the ditches of "It's not real!", and "Lock yourself up and throw away the key." We have had times of staying apart for weeks, and when our local numbers were up and the hospitals were overloaded, we were very careful. We have attended church, six feet apart and masked, and have worn our masks at all times when/where they were required. If some readers think we get what we deserved, so be it. There are many other things to consider with total locking down and staying home, like depression, abuse, suicides, overdoses...I think each of us has to count the cost, consider our risks, and also be conscious of others. My "sneaking off to Florida" commenter is to be commended for being so careful as to protect those innocent little babies. That is all heart, and I'm sure God will bless for that.

Oh no! So sorry to hear one of your family members has contracted Covid. Since the person is younger, chances are that there will be no serious symptoms. It would be really awful if you somehow transmitted it to Grandma in Florida. Hopefully as more and more people are vaccinated, our lives can begin to return to normal. I am definitely looking forward to receiving my first vaccine in a couple of weeks when I turn 65 (never thought I would look forward to turning that age!) Hope the rest of your family stays healthy.

Mert, I'm glad he was okay and no one else got it. Here in NY, if someone in the house gets a positive, the rest of the household has to quarantine for 20 days.
Laurie, I hope grandma stays safe too! It hurts my heart to even think about! But I was with her last on Friday, and tested negative on Wednesday, so hopefully all will be well. I honestly don't think she would have made it this long down there alone without the intermittent visits though...it's a tough thing to navigate, there is risk, but she has been so absolutely lonely, and her short term memory is...well, hit or miss. There will be a time when she will need more help in her home, and we need to keep an eye on her. Our age here for vaccination eligibility just lowered to 60, so we still have some time before we have to decide...I am leaning towards getting one...but ha, looking forward to being 65, seems crazy, but we live in a crazy world right now. What a funny statement 🤣 I love how you can still laugh in the midst of these trials. Hopefully no one else comes down with the virus, and it is really amazing it took a year for (at least) one of you to get it...

Your family is in my prayers! My 68-year-old father tested positive for COVID and had walking pneumonia in January and he recovered just fine. Yes, there were some unpleasant moments as with any other illness. Basically, what my Dad needed was plenty of rest and fluids (and perhaps me to take care of him!) :) There were members of the family that were concerned I would get the virus whilst caring for him but I simply could not let him be alone to fend for himself. God is in charge and I knew He was watching over us. And God be praised, I did not get sick.
