a little story

It's been on my heart to write about an incredible woman I met a few years ago. I will be vague with the specific details, because there's a chance you might know her. My sister met her first, in a dr. waiting room. I will call her Lyn. Lyn was the mother of four adopted children, all of whom had downs syndrome. Beautiful children. When her son was a newborn, he needed heart surgery, and Lyn's sister breastfed him along with her own newborn, to strengthen him for the surgery. Very nice people. Lyn moved to our area to be near her husband, who was in prison for a crime he did not commit, according to Lyn. Lyn married him after the she already had these wonderful children. Now Lyn was trusting, and loving, and wanted to be loved in return. I was skeptical of how her husband would be with her children when he was released from prison. But Lyn was hopeful, and the children were counting the days 'til "Daddy" got home. I was apprehensive. Anyway, her husband was released from prison, and was in the county jail for parole issues...and she was finding he wasn't what she thought he was....she was a bit scared of him....he convinced her to smuggle some drugs to him, threatened her, etc...so she did. He ingested the drugs, which were unexplainably toxic and powerful, and he died....and another inmate who partook of them we in serious condition....so, she was arrested.....big charges....my sister and I knew she was a precious soul, Lyn. So we prayed for her continuously. She loved her children, and they needed her. And God heard our prayers, and miraculously, all charges against her were dropped. She said she turned to God like never before, and he heard her. So, she moved back to the West Coast, where her extended family lives. I miss meeting up with her in the local stores. Her children are sunshines. The boys would see us from across the store, and start shouting, and prompting Lyn, "Mom, Mom, Mom!!" And I would always get hugs.....very special children, and a very special mom. One of her daughters is Chinese, and extremely meticulous with details....she likes to write down things about people, birthdays, ect. Her other daughter was blessed with a sense of humor, and really likes to joke around. Her two sons loved my children, especially the baby....they are huggy-type boys. My sister has heard from Lyn once since she moved away. If you ever meet this wonderful, blessed lady, say hello to her. And if you don't happen to meet her, don't worry. I have no doubt she will be in heaven.

My girls and I talk about that family now and then, she is pretty amazing. I remember when I talked to her when she was awaiting sentencing, and she had total faith that God was in control. And when I read that she was aquitted, not sure of the accurate term, I felt that I had more faith in the justice system.. and in God, of course! I'll try to find her number, so we can see how she's doing, hopefully fine!!
